New Jersey Masonic Aprons

Perhaps nothing is so interesting as the various aprons Masons wear. This page is devoted to these "badges of honor".

These are the "official" aprons of the Grand Lodge of New Jersey.

Member Apron - This is the plain white apron presented to a
brother once he takes his 1st degree. It indicates membership in
the Fraternity. And "there is no higher honor..."
Officer Apron: This is a white apron embordered with a 1 inch
blue border. This apron is worn by a sitting or current officer of
the lodge.
Grand Lodge Apron: This apron is given to those brethren who are
current or former officer's of the Grand Lodge. It is a plain white
apron embordered with a 1 1/2 inch purple border.

Past Master Apron: This is a white apron embordered with a 1 inch
purple border. This indicates a Past Master of the lodge.
DWA - Distinguished White Apron - Awarded to brethren of the
Fraternity who have not become Past Master's of the Lodge, but
have worked diligently in the lodge for many years and have
distinguished themselves in some way. This award is generally
made to only one brother per District in each Masonic year.

Grand Master's Apron: This apron is given to those brethren who
have been elected by the Grand Lodge to the position of Grand
Master. It is a plain white apron, embordered by a 2 inch purple
border, with a sunburst emblazoned in the center.
