Lodge Announces Teacher of the Year

CRANFORD - On March 13, 2006 AzureMasada Lodge #22 of Free and Accepted Masons,
Cranford NJ, announced their award of Teacher of the Year to Carol Migliorini, teacher
of child development at Cranford High School.  The selection of Migliorini makes her
eligible for State Teacher of the Year honors to be presented by the Grand Lodge of Free
and Accepted Masons for the State of New Jersey at their annual communication to be
help in April.

This award comes with a $5,000. grant from the Grand Lodge to the selected teacher.

After being presented to the Lodge by James Foster, Junior Deacon of the Lodge,
Migliorini was presented with a $150. award by Ronald Jacobson, Master of AzureMasada
Lodge.

Migliorini was honored for her stewardship of the Cougar Pre-School, a unique program
developed by Migliorini that allows High School Juniors and Seniors to act as mentors
and teachers to 30 Pre-School children ages 3-5.  The course philosophy is to train
students to become contributors to the community while acquiring knowledge of child
psychology, developing skills in teaching and interacting with young children and
learning effective work habits.

The program, instituted in 1973, provides one on one interfacing with high school
students with pre-school children where the high school students actually assist in
developing teaching programs for their own young students who meet 3 times each week
for approximately 1 1/2 hours each session.

It was the unique teaming of High School students, with younger children that brought
the program and Migliorini to the attention of the Lodge.  Foster stated, "This program,
allows older children to mentor to younger children which teaches them  responsibility,
dedication, and a love of family and children. All of these goals are in line with one of the
focuses of Freemasonry - that of assisting one's neighbor and giving back to the
community.

Information regarding the program, which runs each school year is available by
contacting Migliorini at migliorini@cranfordschools.org.
